
Anthony David Gonzalez was born in Torrance, California on February 27 in 1976. He grew up in Southern California, and was a student at Huntington Beach High School where he was a top player on both the football and basketball teams. Gonzalez excelled in these games at the University of California. He played with the football team in the 1996 Aloha Bowl. Here, Gonzalez tied the record for school bowls with nine receptions. Gonzalez played with the basketball team to the Sweet 16 of NCAA basketball tournament only a few months later. After graduating from high school, he entered the 1997 NFL Draft. The Kansas City Chiefs chose Gonzalez as their thirteenth overall pick. Gonzalez was playing for the Chiefs between 1997 and 2008. Gonzalez was transferred to the Atlanta Falcons. Gonzalez never caught less than 59 passes during Gonzalez's second NFL season.
