
Suzanne Pleshette, born 31 January 1937, and died 19 January 2008 was an American film theatre, television and voice actress. Pleshette began her career in theatre, and then she was in films in the 1950s and later. She then appeared in a number of notable films, including Rome Adventure (1962), Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963), or Spirited Away (192001). Later, she appeared in many television productions and was frequently a guest actor. She was Emily Hartley in The Bob Newhart Show, 1972-1978 where she received many Emmy Award nominations. Pleshette was the daughter of Geraldine (nee Kaplan), and Eugene Pleshette. She was born in Brooklyn Heights, New York City, on January 31, 1937. Her parents were Jewish and were the children of immigrants from Russia and Austria-Hungary.Her mother was an artist and dancer who performed under the stage name Geraldine Rivers. Her father was a stage manager in both the Paramount Theater and the Paramount Theater in Manhattan.
